SINGAPORE, [3rdJuly]—Sim racing talents from Legion of Racers (LOR), an esports and lifestyle brand, will compete in the Junior ROK and Senior ROK categories at the prestigious Asia Pacific Karting Championship 2024 (APKC).
The Championship will take place from 5 to 7 July 2024 at the KF1 Karting Circuit in Singapore.
LOR was founded to provide opportunities for racers to experience the thrill of motorsports through sim racing while developing talents through their esports team.
Having LOR sim talents participate in a physical race like the Asia Pacific Karting Championship would help LOR’s mission of breaking entry barriers in traditional motorsports and bridging the gap between virtual and real-world racing.
With multiple championship trophies and titles in sim racing competitions in 2023, Dillan Tan, 14, who also won the ROK Cup 2022 in the junior category, will participate in the senior ROK category for the APKC2024.
He also took part in the senior category in 2023.
Meanwhile, the newest additions to the LOR talent team, twins Sanjana Dandu and Sujana Dandu, who are both 12-years-old, will be making their debut in the Junior ROK category.
“I’m really excited to be taking part in the senior category of the ROK competition again.
Since winning the junior category in2022, I have been concentrating on developing my skills through sim racing and have won various championship trophies for the past year,” said Tan.
“I am determined to translate the experience and knowledge I garnered through sim racing to reality in karting as well.”
The Dandu twins, who came under the talent management of LOR earlier this year, will be making their debut in the ROK junior category.
“We are thrilled to be competing for the first time in the Asia Pacific Karting Championship 2024,” said Sujana.
“We’re also honoured to race with other great racers from across the region.”
“We are looking forward to competing amongst the best in karting.
This is a crucial step in our career, as this championship is usually a launchpad for aspiring kart racers to boost their professional careers,” added Sanjana.
The International Karting Commission (CIK-FIA) established APKC to promote karting in the Asia-Pacific region and provide a platform for talented drivers to showcase their skills on an international stage.
APKC is renowned for its high level of competition, attracting some of the best kart drivers in the region. This makes it a crucial stepping stone for young drivers aiming to advance to higher levels of motorsport.
Legion of Racers co-founder Melvin Moh said that having three LOR talents participate in the Asia Pacific Karting Championship 2024 proves that LOR is more than just sim racers, and will also help them continue their journey as racers, whether in physical or virtual competitions.
“We create talents capable of physically and digitally racing on the track. I trust they will showcase their best performance at the championship. Many of our racers have a background in karting, and our sim racing programmes further enhance their skills for real-world racing scenarios,” said Moh.
The LOR racers will compete against top kart racers from across the Asia-Pacific region, including Indonesia, Thailand, India, Austria, Australia, New Zealand, and Singapore.
This year’s championship is partnered with Vortex, the ‘engine division’ of OTK Kart Group and OTK Kart Asia.
