Aspiring sim racers who are keen to get started on learning the ropes, with the ambition of moving on to becoming a professional sim racer down the line will now have a new programme to aid in making the dream a reality.
On November 29th, Singapore-based esports and lifestyle brand Legion of Racers (LOR) announced the establishment of LOR Ascent, a programme aimed to offer opportunities for aspiring sim racers to be part of the LOR community.
It will also serve as an opportunity for LOR to unearth new sim racing talent who will then be able to move on and represent LOR in major competitions.
“After more than five years of growing LOR, we have recognized that there is a gap between the time when a talent begins sim racing to the moment when they can compete for a professional racing team,” said Melvin Moh, Co-Founder of Legion of Racers.
“It is with this realization that we have decided to start the Ascent programme as a platform where sim racers can learn, grow and take part in competitions.”
The establishment of the LOR Ascent programme will also mean that LOR will be able not just grow its base of sim racing talent, but will also aid the growth of the sim racing community in Singapore and in the region.
Interested individuals who are keen to get involved in sim racing can register their interest on the LOR website at www.legionofracers.com until December 31st.
The LOR team will then evaluate the registrants and will select 5 who will then make it into the initial batch of LOR Ascent members.
Talents who are inducted into the LOR Ascent programme will be able to learn skills from current members of Team LOR, including the likes of Singapore’s top youth sim racer and go-karter Dillan Tan and and two time HyperDrive Cities champion Andika Rama Maulana.
Apart from sim racing skills, members of the LOR Ascent programme will also undergo specialised training in areas such as media handling and personal social media management.
“This has been on our agenda for sometime now, and given that we now have had a few years under our belt, and have had the opportunity to develop talents like Andika and Dillan, among many others, we have now decided to start LOR Ascent to institutionalise our methodologies so that more sim racers can benefit from the guidance and mentorship,” added Moh.
“Ultimately, the pathway to the LOR Racing Team is clear and sim racers will have an opportunity to be part of one of the region’s most recognised esports team in the sim racing space,” he added.
Aspiring participants for LOR Ascent must be at least 12 years-old to be eligible and can register your interest at
